After the successful introduction of mechatronics on series motorcycles such as the Ducati Panigale 1199 and the Multistrada 1200 S, it was only too logical that Öhlins presented the first mechatronic shock absorber for the aftermarket. The Kawasaki ZX 10 R is the first vehicle for which a TTX 36 electronically controlled shock absorber was developed. The Öhlins mechatronic system was shown for the first time in the WSBK in 2008. Laboriously developed and now mature algorithms influence the damper tuning in the Kind, that the pilot can enjoy the best possible performance and comfort of a perfectly working shock absorber on the racetrack, but also on the way home. The hardware is shown in the form of the more than successful TTX36 shock absorber, which caused a sensation in racing Scene and is also considered the ultimate upgrade for any street motorcycle. The shock absorber is linked to software that continuously records and processes information on driving style, the condition of the route and the actual speed driven. The result of the data processing is a continuous adjustment of the shock absorber while the motorcycle is driving. If the driver works hard with the brakes on the racetrack and jerks the gas, the software recognizes this and adjusts the shock absorber accordingly. If, on the other hand, you go home on public roads at a leisurely pace, the software works out a more comfortable set-up.
